Question from Robbi, a parent:

I have a garden area that is 19 feet by 11 feet and I would like it to be 2 feet deep. I need to know how much soil to get in feet and yards. Could you please give me the formulas to figure this out. Thanks Robbi

Robbi,
The formula you need to use in order to find cubic feet is to multiply the three values together;

19*11*2=418 cubic feet.

In order to convert that to cubic yards 1 cubic yard = 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 cubic feet, so

418 cubic feet = 418/27 = 15.5 cubic yards.

Hope this helps.
Melanie

Or you could use our volume calculator.
