Question from virginia, a parent:

determine whether each relation is a function provide reasons for identifying relation
(3, 4) (5, 9) (9, 9) (2, 3)
(0, 0) (0, 1) (1, 4) (2, 4)
(2, 1) (4, 5) (8, 4) (1, 0)
(8, 3) (8, 0) (7, 7) (4, 7)

Hi Virginia.

A relation is a function if each value of x that it can take has only one possible value of y.

So look for the relations where you don't have two different values of y for the same value of x, these are functions.

Hope this helps,
Stephen La Rocque.
