Question from William:

I need to provide 712 cubic feet to water storage capacity. If I use 15 inch diameter pipe, what would the length need to be to provide the capacity?

Hi William.

The pipe is just a long cylinder. The volume of a cylinder is V = π R2 L, where R is the radius of the pipe (7.5/12 feet) and L is the length of the pipe in feet.

So you have
712 = π (7.5/12)2 L

Solve for L to finish the problem.

Hope this helps,
Stephen.
