Subject: standard deviation

Who are you: Student

After i have added up all the squared deviations what do i do???, what is meant by "divide by one less than the sample size"

Hi Kayleigh,

Let's say you have 10 data points, so you have 10 deviations, and therefore 10 "squared deviations". Your sample size is 10. So you would add the squared deviations, then divide this sum by 9.

Hope this helps,
Stephen La Rocque.
