Subject: gallon in a tank
Name: Lois
Who are you: Other

I have a tank that is 48"long 26" wide and 21 " deep. How many gallons of water will it hold?

Hi Lois,

The volume of your tank is 48 x 26 x 21 = 26208 cubic inches. There are 231 cubic inches in a US gallon so your tank holds

26208/231 = 113.5 gallons

A British gallon is larger, it is 277.42 cubic inches so if you want British gallons you need to divide by 277.42.
