I need to know step by step procedures to convert a standard form to a slope intercept form?

Maiko,

The slope intercept form of a line is

y = mx + b

I am going to guess that by "standard form" you mean

y - y1 = m (x -x1) where

m = ( y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

I am going to proceed with an example.

I want to find the equation of the line that passes through (3,2) and (1,-4). The standard form gives

m = ( -4 - 2 )/(1 - 3 ) = (-6)/(-2) = 3

Thus the line in standard form is

y - 2 = 3(x - 3) or
y -2 = 3x - 9

which simplifies to

y = 3x - 7
