first term = 5
second term = 5 + 3 = 5 + 3 x 1
third term = 5 + 3 + 3 = 5 + 3 x 2
fourth term = 5 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 5 + 3 x 3
fifth term = 5 + 3 + 3 + 3 +3 = 5 + 3 x 4
...
ninth term = 5 + 3 x 8 = 29
...
300th term = 5 + 3 x 299 = 902
