When you are Multiplying Fractions why is the answer always smaller?

Hi Nicole.

Take a piece of a pie - whatever size you like.

Now I'll take a piece of YOUR piece of pie - whatever size I like.

Does it make sense that my piece must be smaller than the piece you took?

When you multiply by a fraction (as long as the numerator is smaller than the denominator), this is the same as taking a piece of something.
