How to show my work when I simplify this 2 - 2[4 - 9] ÷ (-5)

Hi Remada,

I am going to illustrate how I would show my work with a different example. I am going to simplify

9 - 5[ 4 ÷ (-2) - 15] x 3

I know that I ned to start inside the brackets and find 4 divided by -2 and then subtract 15 from this result. Next I multiply this by 5 and then by 3 and finally subtract what I have from 9.

Here goes

9 - 5[ 4 ÷ (-2) - 15] x 3
= 9 - 5[ -2 - 15] x 3
= 9 - 5[ -17] x 3
= 9 - (-85) x 3
= 9 - (-255)
= 9 + 255
= 264

Now try your problem,
Penny
