How much concrete will it take to pour a slab 16ft.By 18ft. 3inches deep

Hi Cindy,

Contractors measure concrete in cubic yards. They often just say yards but the units are cubic yards. To calculate the volume of concrete you need in cubic yards you should first convert each of the measurements to yards. There are 3 feet in a yard and 36 inches in a yard so

16 feet = 16/3 yards
18 feet = 18/3 yards and
3 inches = 3/36 yards.

Thus the volume you need is 16/3 x 18/3 x 3/36 = 2.7 cubic yards.
