Question from lim, a student:

Jack is making stuffed toys. Each toy needs 360 stitches. Ten stitches take 15 seconds. One toy needs 57cm of cotton for stitches. How many centimetres of cotton does Jack use in an hour?

Hi Lim.

You have many fractions here. The units can show you what you should do to get centimeters per hour (cm/hr):

When you have this kind of question, write out the units and see how you can arrange things so that the units cancel out leaving you with the fraction you want to get.

Cheers,
Stephen La Rocque.
