How many yards of concrete to cover a 20 x 100 area 4 inches deep?

When contractors say yards they mean cubic yards so you need to convert all your measurements to yards. There are 3 feet in a yard and 12 inches in a foot so

20 feet = 20/3 yards
100 ft = 100/3 yards
4 inches = 4/12 feet = 4/(12 3) yards

Thus the volume of concrete you need is

20/3 100/3 4/(12 3) = 24.7 cubic yards.
