 Percentages are fractions. Try to see how often you see percentages in the news and in everyday life.
 Decimals are also fractions. Go to the store and look how often the prices are in decimals like $9.97 rather than whole numbers like $10.00. (Of course there is a tax percentage over that, see above.)
 Probabilities are also fractions. Without a basic understanding of fractions, it is impossible to get a basic understanding of chance. Without a basic understanding of chance many people spend all their savings in casinos and on lottery tickets.
