- Percentages are fractions. Try to see how often you see percentages in the news and in everyday life.
- Decimals are also fractions. Go to the store and look how often the prices are in decimals like $9.97 rather than whole numbers like $10.00. (Of course there is a tax percentage over that, see above.)
- Probabilities are also fractions. Without a basic understanding of fractions, it is impossible to get a basic understanding of chance. Without a basic understanding of chance many people spend all their savings in casinos and on lottery tickets.
