Question from Ali, a student:

Would an object sink or float in pure water if it has a mass of 10g and a volume of 5 cubic centimeters?

Ali,

The density of pure water is 1g/cm3. An object will sink in water if its own density is greater than that of water.

What is the density of your object in grams per cubic centimeter? Is that more or less than 1?

Cheers,
Stephen La Rocque.
