Question from annoris, a student:

How to calculate percent of profits using step by step division formula.
I know how to get the profit.
Selling cost was $15.00
Cost amount was $10.00
Total profits its $  5.00.
But i do not know how to get the percent because i don't know how to divide to well . Can you helppppppp me ?

Annoris,

I think that you want the profit as a percentage of the selling price. Thus take the profit, divide by the selling price and then multiply by 100 to convert to a percentage. Thus in your case this is

profit / (selling price) × 100 = $5 / $15 × 100 = 33.33%

I hope this helps,
Penny
