Question from BJ, a student:

The perimeter of a rectangular field is yards. If the length of the field is yards, what is its width?

Hi,

I didn't receive any numbers but that's not important. The perimeter is the distance around the rectangle, in other words

perimeter = length + width + length + width.

Hence half the perimeter is the length plus the width. Thus divide the perimeter by 2 and then subtract the length to find the width.
