Question from brianda, a student:

Peg has 12 more cases to unload than Mike. They have a total of 150 cases to unload. How my cases does each have to unload?

Hi Brianda,

I can give you a hint.

If the number of cases were divided evenly they would have 75 each. Suppose that Mike gave one of his to Peg then Peg would have 2 more than Mike. (She would have 1 more and he would have 1 less.)

One nice feature of this problem is that you can check if your answer is correct.
