Question from chaleen, a student:

1. multiply = 3a - 3b by a+b

Chaleen,

When you see 3a - 3b you should immediately take out the common factor of 3 and get

3a - 3b = 3(a - b)

The question is then to multiply 3(a - b) by (a + b). So I would multiply

(a - b)(a + b)

and then multiply the result by 3.
