Question from Dryden, a student:

What is meant by asking what is the greatest number you can add to that number without having to regroup in any place?

Hi Dryden,

I think this means that you are to find the largest number you can add to a given number so that there are no carries. So, for example if the given number is 1738 then the largest number you can add and not have any carries is 8261. The sum of these two numbers is 9999.

I hope this helps,
Harley
