Question from Greg, a parent:

How do you find out the percent of a number that is with in a range of numbers (i.e. what % is 39 of range 34 to 42)?
Greg

Hi Greg,

I'm not sure what is meant here but here is a guess.

"What percentage of the way from 34 to 42 is 39?"

If this is the question then the distance from 34 - 42 is 42 - 34 = 8.
The distance from 34 to 39 is 39 - 34 = 5.
Hence 39 is 5/8 of the way from 34 to 42. As a percent this is 5/8 × 100 = 62.5%.

I hope this helps,
Penny
