I can write 16 in exponential form and 1000 in exponential form so maybe the expected response is that the African bush elephant weighs 2^{4} × 10^{3} pounds. Penny
Could it be asking for 16000 = 2^{4} × 10^{3} = 2^{3} x 2 x 2^{3 } × 5^{3} = 2^{7} x 5^{3}? Stephen La Rocque
