Question from Jenny, a student:

Give the excluded values for the fraction m+5/mn+3m

m=
n=

Hi Jenny,

The question is asking for the values of m and n that cause the expression to have a meaningless value. In this case you are looking for values of m and n that will give a zero denominator since dividing by zero is not a valid operation. the denominator is mn + 3m = m(n + 3). What values of m and n make m( n + 3) = 0?
