Question from Kay: If a sales tax is 5% on $1.500.00 car. What would be the total? |
Hi Kay,
The word percent means per one-hundred so 5% is 5 per 110 or 5/100 which in decimal form is 0.05. Thus the 5% tax on a $1,500.00 item is 0.05 × $1,500.00 = $75.00. Thus the total including tax is $1,500.00 + $75.00 = $1,575.00.
