Question from Kelly, a student:

For the Canadian flag, the ratio of width to length is 1:2.
What is the perimeter of a Canadian flag that is 12 ft. long?
Are all Canadian flags similar shapes? Explain with a diagram.

Hi Kelly,

If the ratio of width to length is 1:2 and the flag is 12 feet long it must be 6 fet wide since 6:12 = 1:2. If it is 6 feet wide and 12 feet long what is its perimeter?
