Question from Koni: I'm trying to figure out the distance our buses travel throughout our district to pick up students for school. How do you figure square miles? If our district measures 6 1/2 miles wide and 2 3/4 miles deep, what is our total square miles? Thanks for your help. |

If your district is rectangular with a width of 6 1/2 miles and a depth of 2 3/4 miles then the area is
6 1/2 × 2 3/4 = 6.5 × 2.75 = 17.875 square miles.
