Question from kristy, a student:

A man on the tenth floor of a building shouts down to a person on the street. If the angle of elevation from the street to the man in the building is 35° and the man in the building is 40 feet up, about how far away from the building is the person on the street?

Hi Kristy,

Look at the response I sent to Danice for a similar problem. Draw a diagram of the situation in your problem and you will see that it is quite similar to the diagram in my response to Danice. See if This allows you to solve this problem and the other two problems you sent. If you have difficulty tell us what you did and where you are stuck and we will try to help.
