Question from Lisa: I need to convert 32,000 square feet, 5 inches deep to cubic yards. Can you help me? |
Hi Lisa,
There are 12 inches in a foot so 5 inches is 5/12 feet. Thus the volume is 32,000 × 5/12 cubic yards. There are 3 × 3 × 3 = 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard so take the volume in cubic feet and divide by 27 to obtain the volume in cubic yards.
