Question from maame, a student:

if i run six miles per hour and my friend runs four miles per hour and we both run for two hours in opposite directions how many miles apart will we be after the two hours?

We have two responses for you

Maame,

You run 6 miles per hour so in the first hour you would run 6 miles and then another 6 miles in the second hour. How far did your friend run?

Penny

Hi Maame,

If you start at the same position and run in opposite directions, you just have to add the two distances together.

Hope this helps,
Janice
