Question from Marianne:

I have a piece of material 44 inches by 78 inches. How many linear yards can I get from it?

Hi Marianne,

I am not sure what you mean. If you want to convert 44 inches by 78 inches to square yards then Google can do that for you. Type 44 inches times 78 inches to square yards into the Google search engine and you will receive the response (44 inches) times 78 inches = 2.64814815 square yards. If this is 44 inch wide material and you are purchasing it by the linear yard then you need to know how many yards are in 78 inches. there re 36 inches in a yard so 78 inches is 78/36 = 2.17 yards or 2 and 1/6 yards.

I hope this helps,
Penny
