Question from Mark, a student:

Rent was $1.00 per cubic yard. Dimensions were 36 feet by 200 feet by 12 feet high. What is the rent

Hi Mark,

Since the rent is in dollars per cubic yard you are going to need the volume in cubic yards. Each of the dimensions you have are in feet so you need to convert them to yards. There are 3 feet in a yard so, for example height is 12 feet which is 12/3 yards. Convert each of the other two dimensions yo yards and then multiply these dimensions to find the volume in cubic yards. Finally multiply this volume by the rate per cubic yard to find the rent.
