Question from Mary, a student: I need to know how algebra is used in making or designing of roof trusses for a house. I have to present a poster in class showing how algebra is used in daily jobs. My dad works at a truss company. |
Mary,
The pitch of a roof can be demonstrated by simulating it in a graph. The peak of the roof will rise a given distance as the run of the roof moves toward the center of the building. Given this can you find an equation that will represent the slope of the roof? In roofing the slope is refered to as the pitch.
