Question from moumita, a student:

|F|=20N...this force is acting along a vector A=4j+3k.what is F?

Moumita,

F is the symbol for the force vector. As any vector it has a magnitude and a direction. The magnitude of F is |F| = 20 newtons and its direction is described by the vector A = 4j + 3k.

The magnitude of the vector A is √(42 + 32) = √(16 + 9) = √25 = 5. Thus F must be 4 times A. What is F?
