Question from ORIETTA, a parent:

I have a basement 1000 sq ft I want to purchase tile that are 18x18inches and they are charging 4.15 sq ft how much would it cost since I will need less tiles to cover the area since it's not 12X12

Thank You

Orietta,

They give the cost in square feet so the cost does not depend on the size of the tile. Your basement is 1,000 square feet and each square foot will cost you $4.15 so the cost is $4.15 × 1000 = $4,150. Each tile is 1.5 ft by 1.5 ft so its area is 1.5 × 1.5 = 2.25 square feet. Thus you will need 1,000/2.25 = 445 tiles. This number may not be exact since you will undoubtedly have to trim some tiles depending on the shape of the basement floor.

I hope this helps,
Penny
