Your basement is 1,000 square feet and each square foot will cost you $4.15 so the cost is $4.15 × 1000 = $4,150. Each tile is 1.5 ft by 1.5 ft so its area is 1.5 × 1.5 = 2.25 square feet. Thus you will need 1,000/2.25 = 445 tiles. This number may not be exact since you will undoubtedly have to trim some tiles depending on the shape of the basement floor.
