Question from rogerson, a student:

its me again...
i'm sorry to bother but i really have tons to do...
please, be willing to help

Line t from point P is tangent to circle O at T, the point of tangency. Find the length of PT when the radius of the circle is 5cm and the distance between points P and O is 8cm.

please....
i need help...
plese
thanks!

Hi there. If I read your question as you intended it, then this diagram is correct:

I have drawn a line from O to T. What is it? the radius. Therefore you know its length.

Now you have a triangle with two sides known. Is it a right triangle? Then you can use Pythagoras to solve the problem right?

Hope this helps,
Stephen La Rocque.
