If you have 45 items and you want to divide them evenly among 45 people then each person gets one. Thus one forty-fifth of forty-five in one, or 1/45 × 45 = 1. But you want the answer to be 10 not 1 so you need ten forty-fifths, that is 10/45 × 45 = 10. You should now put 10/45 in lowest terms.
