Question from Scott, a student:

The volume of a sphere is 6000cm cubed. What is the diameter of the sphere?

Hi Scott,

The volume o a sphere of radius r cm is V = 4/3 π r3. You have a volume of 6000 cm3 so

6000 = 4/3 π r3

Solve for r and the diameter is 2 × r.
