Question from Sean, a student:

If F( x - 2) = (x + 3)/ (x - 4) , then F(5) = 10/3

How do you solve this problem and what section of calculus can I learn the technique to solve this type of probl

Hi Sean.

There's no calculus involved in the solution to this problem.

If F(5) = F(x-2), then 5 = x-2, so x = 7.

Thus, F(5) = F(7-2) = (7+3)/(7-4) = 10/3 as expected.

Cheers,
Stephen La Rocque.
