Question from Terry:

How long (distance - feet AND time) will it take a car traveling at 45 mph to slow down to a speed of 35 mph?

Hi Terry,

It depends very much on the road conditions and circumstances. As an extreme if you do it by driving into the side of a train it probably takes very little time and zero distance. If you are on an ice surface and lock your brakes you will go a long distance.

I suggest you visit our Math Beyond School section and search using the keyword police.
