Question from angelee, a student:

xy+5x-2y-10=0
2x+y=1

Angelee,

You have

xy + 5x - 2y - 10 = 0                  (1)
2x + y = 1                                 (2)

Solve equation (2) for y and substitute into equation (1). This will give you a quadratic in x. Solve for x. You will get two solutions. For each of the two values of x you obtain, substitute it into equation (2) and solve for y.
