Question from Ann, a parent:

How many times do I have to walk around the perimeter of my square 3.50 acre property to achieve 1 mile?

Ann,

There are 43560 square feet in an acre so your 3.50 acre property has an area of 3.50 × 43560 = 152460 square feet. Since your property is a square if the length of a side is x feet then x2 = 152460 and thus x = √152460 = 390.46 feet. Thus once around the four sides of your property is 4 × 390.46 = 1561.85 feet. Since there are 5280 feet in a mile to walk 1 mile you need to walk around the property 5280/1561.85 = 3.38 times.
