Question from carolyn, a student:

The length of the base of a triangle is twice its height. If the area of the triangle is 100 square kilometers, find the height.
HELP!!!

Carolyn,

  1. Write down the expression you know for the area of a triangle and set it equal to 100.

  2. The length of the base is twice the height so b = 2h.

  3. Substitute 2h for b in the equation in step 1.

  4. Solve for h.
