Question from Christina, a parent:

I am trying to find the area of the base of a rectangular prism where one cube=_1 cu in. The Answer is given in square inches. I also need the volume of the prism in cu in. For example length=3, w=2, h=5

Christina,

The volume of a rectangular prism is length × width × height. If the length, width and height are given in inches then the volume is in cubic inches.

rectangular prism

By using the word height I see the prism sitting on its base which has dimensions length and width. If this is the base then the area of the base is length × width. If length and width are given in inches then the area of the base is in square inches.
