Question from crystal, a student:

/6x+7/=5x+2

Hi Crystal,

The equation |6x + 7| = 5x + 2 can be written as two equations

6x + 7 = 5x + 2 if 6x + 7 ≥ 0
-(6x + 7) = 5x + 2 if 6x + 7 < 0.

Solve both equation for x. You will obtain two values for x, one from each equation, but you need to check if these values of x satisfy the original equation |6x + 7| = 5x + 2. Substitute the two values for x into this equation to see if they are solutions.

If you need further help write back,
Penny
