Question from Dana, a student:

If a pill bottle contains either a clonazepam or clonidine pill and then a clonidine pill is added & the botttle is shaken up and a clonidine pill is "dumped" out, what are the chances a clonazepam pill
remains in the bottle?

Hi Dana.

Before dumping, the bottle contains either 2 clonidine pills or 1 clonidine and 1 clonazepam pill.
We know that 1 clonidine was removed from the bottle. That means either 1 clonidine or 1 clonazepam remains in the same probability as the original.

If the bottle had an equal chance of having either pill to begin with, then it has an equal chance at the end.

Cheers,
Stephen La Rocque.
