Question from dave, a student:

solve for x

(log base 2 of x) - (log base 2 of (x-2)) = 3

Dave,

The solution to this problem hinges on two properties of the logarithm functions. First, for a log function to any base a

loga(p) - loga(q) = loga(p/q)

The second property of the log base a is that

aloga(r) = r

Apply these properties to your problem where a = 2 and see if you can solve it. If you need more assistance write back,
Penny
