Question from Dee, a parent:
From a standard deck of 52 cards,
how many cards would you have to draw,
without looking at them , to be absolutely certain
(a probability of 1) that you had 5 spades?

Dee,

Imagine the biggest possible hand without five spades.

How many hearts could you have? [13, right?]
How many diamonds?
How many clubs?
How many spades?

How many in total?

So any hand bigger than this must have five spades.

Good Hunting!
