Question from a student:

evaluate (24=n)-6 if n=4

Hi,

I think this should be

evaluate (24 + n) - 6 if n = 4

I am going to solve a similar paroble.

evaluate 12 - (7 - k) if k = 5

The requirement that k = 5 tells me to replace the letter k in the expression by the number 5. Hence I am to evaluate

12 - (7 - 5)

In evaluating a numeric exprression you always start inside the parentheses. Thus since 7 - 5 = 2 I get

12 - (7 - 5) = 12 - 2 = 10.

Now try your problem,
Penny
