Question from diana, a student:

I do not know how to simplify equations. How does 5x^2-7X+2 become (x-1) (5x-2)?

Diana,

You are correct that 5x2 - 7x + 2 = (x - 1)(5x - 2). The word simplify sometimes confuses me. I am not sure which expression, 5x2 - 7x + 2 or (x - 1)(5x - 2) is simpler.
