Question from Gayle, a parent:

If you want to plant 26 seed per square foot (wheat) on one acre of land and the seed comes in 50 lb bags and there are 13,500 seed per pound (675,000) per 50 pounds, how many bags do you need to plant per acre?

Hi Gayle,

There are 43560 square feet in an acre thus to plant 26 seeds per square foot you will need 26 × 43560 1,132,560 seeds. There are 675,000 seeds in a bag and 1,132,560/675,000 = 1.67 so you need one and two-thirds bags of seed per acre.
