Question from Irfan, a student:

If there are 25 names in a hat, 15 girl's names and 10 boy's names, what is the probability that a name drawn at random will be
I. a girl's name
II. a boy's name
III. not a girl's name
IV. not a boy's name.

Irfan,

Probability is very closely linked to proportion, especially in "equally probable outcome" models. So what proportion are girl's names?

Good Hunting!
